Screw Gordon Campbell, I couldn't believe my eyes when I read the transcripts of his inaugural speech in 2001...he actually said that BC was bigger than England, France and Germany combined! Would you trust such a moron to count to 20, let alone estimate the economic costs of useless projects and policies of cutting off arms and legs of public services_ I see that he doesn't come out so often now, probably scared stiff of people who want to wring his neck. Good for him, and if he needs more personal protection from angry people, he should pay for his own. That would save some provincial expenses too! The Liberals simply ought to be shot and eradicated like parasites and vermins...the only problem is that I don't know who to replace them. Not the NDP, certainly.

In the early 1980s, the engineering students at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario did this to copies of the Whig-Standard in the boxes, with a headline claiming that Clifford Olson had escaped. Hey, great website! I think it's integral that there is an independent voice out there that can respond to clearly biased mainstream media. I was involved in the occupation at UBC recently against the tuition hikes, and I have to say that I've walked the talk all my life (in response to that right-wing jerk-off who posted earlier). I'm living in this system, and trying to change it from the inside, because I think it can be done. Yeah, I have to consume, and yeah, I'm not happy about living under Capitalism, but the option of moving away to live by myself or with a partner doing subsistence farming seems too cowardly (though somewhat appealing) to me to undertake. If we can effect positive change, even if we have to compromise some of our own personal integrity to do it. Yeah, I hate making posters when I know it wastes paper, but there are only so many ways to get the word out there.

Why do I bother to post on sites like the CBC Forum Boards. While there are a few smart, progressive people who see the world beyond the rip in resident bunnypants pants, the Afghanistan forums have been taken over by a bunch of right-wing wingnut proto-facist Americans who hate Canada. And the forum moderator censors lots of stuff. I recently posted a quote by Toni Morrison ("We are witnessing the Nazification of America") where I clearly quote Morrison. That was pulled. I quoted a poem by Amiri Baraka, that was pulled. Any posts that call bush "bunnypants" are pulled as well as any reference to the Bush Family Evil Empire. But the wingnuts can get away with the most blatant racist remarks - and nothing. I have no illusions about the neo-liberal agenda of the CBC, but I'm sick of these idiots polluting the cyberspace bought and paid for by us. Is there a strategy that others use on these so-called moderate boards (with alleged free expression)_ Am I stupid to bother (and not radical enough_) What I really like to see is a bunch of the best flamers flame these Americans back to Slatedom and the rest of the mediawhoredom web-sites. talking to themselves - but isn't there something anyone can do_

I've been able to play (and periodically win) the corporate game for 20 years. as a graphic designer turned advertising sales guy turned marketing guy. I've become very critical of the 'big guys' because they collectively will never make a moral decision - and that reflection on society is constantly embarrassing. It can't always be about the money! We all need to stand by the 'indies' whenever we can. For our music, videos, books, or for anything that is available from real people stores as opposed to corporate marketing stratigist. Hell why go to McSomething's if it tastes like crap_ there's probably a diner nearby that'll serve you real food, just as fast (if you ask) and about the same cost. (You may have to get out of your car though). They're taking your money by shutting down Elina and George's video store all over the world. We're going to miss the neighbourhood 'look & feel' like: personal conversations and knowledgeable suggestions for films to suit any entertaining situation. Rogers and Blockbuster couldn't give a shit whether I can find what I'm looking for or if I had seen the new release of Blade Runner or...you get the message. I'm just starting a film documentary about media and corporate america and I invite people's comments and suggestions for research material, URL's, testimonials, funny anti-corporate slogans, graphics, photos. Anything goes. I believe there's still a window available for free speech in Canada (and where they most need it) the US and I'd like to see what's storming out there.

I think the Sun & Province favour neither the so-called right nor left wings ; the desire to stuff one's self with all the capital you can find transcends all political leaning. Rather, it seems to be more of a psychological dysfunction or a spiritual problem, a hole in the heart which they mistake for a craving in their belly. You cannot live on over-priced foccacia bread and RRSP's alone...Gordon Campbell grew up poor and clearly resents it. But unlike George Orwell or Charles Dickens, he seems unable to shake his fear of poverty and his transferance of that fear as a loathing of the less-than-affluent. I am surrounded by people who are smart, creative, and hard-working, who must waste their lives in menial-manual labour slots even AFTER completing their post-secondary education. I have seen some of the best minds of my generation destroyed by minimum wage as their dreams were crushed my the $200 hiking boots of the upper class offspring who skim the cream off this province and leave us the bitter whey. And my oh my, did the Sun ever sound like a bandwidth bully crying over their tampered paper boxes. I would've never found out if they hadn't printed that near-tears note in their paper about Guerilla Media. But I suppose I can thank El Gordo for giving me the incentive to "get the hell outta Dodge" : I'm making plans to leave the country and never come back, taking my university education and vast range of talent & skills with me! Nya nya nya! Take that BC Liberals! Enough of watching my beloved countryside being eaten by the sub-division fungus and Bergen-Belson style factory farming complexes. I got your latest piece of shit this morning when I got off the train. Which union is it that funds you guys_ Union Member: "I need a raise because I've been at my job for the longest time.
