We're Back - Media Activists Publish Election Edition of Can-West Flagship Rag
Guerrilla Media Returns to the Streets, Takes Aim at Vancouver Sun's Harper/Martin Neo-Con Dream Team

VANCOUVER - Returning from a two-year hiatus, Guerrilla Media (GM) unleashed a Vancouver Sun spoof today in response to the CanWest neo-conservative federal election blowjob.

A hundred urban guerrillas took to the streets this morning to distribute twelve thousand copies of the Vancouver Sun parody edition, handing them out to SkyTrain commuters and placing several hundred copies of the satire in Sun newspaper boxes.

"If the Sun had its way, British Columbians would jump out of the Martin fiscal-conservative frying pan into the Stephen Harper service slash-and-privatize fire," said GM CEO and bottle-washer Noam de Ploem. "Stephen Harper and Paul Martin continue to make debt-reduction worship the heart of their neo-conservative religion, ignoring the deafening call from Canadians to mend our badly torn social safety net."

"Unfortunately, in BC, we don't have many other options for election news," said GM's Chief Satire Architect Beau-Gus Moniker. "CanWest owns all the large city dailies, numerous local newspapers,"

"After this election is over, the new minority parliament needs to seriously address the problems of media ownership and its impact on news coverage," said de Ploem. "Everyone acknowledges the significant role the media plays in our lives - a healthy democracy can't depend on one or two wealthy families setting the ideological agenda for a country."

The Sun spoof is posted at a GM CanWest Global canada.con satire website - . For further information , please e-mail .

Once a Vancouver-based group of political satirists, Guerrilla Media is now a Geneva-based institute funded by George Soros. It seems like anyone can get dough these days.
